Paris asks for Capulets permission to marry Capulets daughter Juliet. Capulets declines the offer because he believes she is to young. He tells Paris the only way the two would wed was if he got Juliet to fall in love with him.

Capulet plans a party and gives the invitations to his servent who can’t read. The server goes into the streets and askes someone who looks rich if they could read the list to him. Not knowing they are Montagues he invites them to the party.

Benvolio encourages Romeo to go because it will be a great chance for Romeo to fall in love with someone else. Romeo only agrees because Rosaline will be at the party.
